Extension Services training courses in Iraq

A total of 96 representatives from the Agriculture Extension Services participated in a series of training courses on protected agricultural methods and modern agriculture systems.

The four courses were conducted as part of the Institutional Collaboration Project (ICP) implemented by ECO Consult among others within a consortium of Netherlands, Iraqi and Jordanian institutions. “In this course, I learned about the correct methods of protected agriculture and the use of fertilizers in an aim to share this knowledge with workers and farmers in the agriculture sector.” Said Eng. Nisreen Sa’adoun, one of the participants in Basra.

The three-day courses comprised of two theoretical days followed by a field visit to one of the protected agricultural sites in Iraq.

A total of 24 representatives participated in each course conducted in multiple locations from January 10-24 in Erbil, Dohuk, Baghdad, and Basra. The series of courses were held in collaboration with the Iraq Horticulture Development Program in an aim to strengthen synergies between horticulture projects in Iraq.
